LA Grievance and Disciplinary Procedures

We believe that it is important that teachers working in The Supply Pool should have proper personnel procedures to deal with grievances. This applies to supply teachers who have been accused of misconduct as well as to teachers who have a complaint to make against the school in which they have worked.

Traditionally, discipline and grievance procedures for schools and LAs have been written in a manner which does not easily apply to supply teachers. We have therefore established a procedure which is acceptable to LAs as well as to their schools, teaching associations and teachers.

Our grievance procedures are designed to help and encourage supply teachers to achieve and maintain acceptable standards. The purpose of the procedure is to ensure that when action needs to be taken it is both fair and reasonable and is applied equitably and with consistency.
