ASCL
The Association of School and College Leaders (ASCL, formerly SHA) is the professional association for leaders of secondary schools and colleges. Heads, principals, deputy heads, vice-principals, assistant heads, assistant principals and other senior post holders are eligible for ASCL membership. Members of ASCL are entitled to personal advice and guidance from a network of local and national officials, support through national branches and meetings, and a number of member benefits.
Eteach and ASCL have enjoyed a close working relationship for many years now and Eteach retains the title of the preferred supplier of online recruitment to ASCL members. In 2005, ASCL (then SHA) joined forces with Eteach to roll out a revolutionary new online recruitment system for the UK’s secondary schools.
“SHA has partnered with Eteach for some time now and we are confident of the standard of quality and service they provide. We have been working with them to develop a new version of their system, specifically to meet the needs of secondary schools and sixth form colleges. This is an opportunity to create the definitive location where teachers will look for vacancies in secondary schools and sixth form colleges, from which all schools and colleges can gain a much more cost effective and efficient service. I hope all members will be encouraged to act together to create the ultimate education recruitment resource.” John Dunford, General Secretary, ASCL
ATL
The Association of Teachers and Lecturers (ATL) is a professional association and trade union representing over 160,000 teachers, lecturers and education support staff in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
ATL members work in both the maintained and independent sectors - from early years through to further education - and include all those directly involved in the delivery of education to pupils and students.
Eteach is working with ATL to develop enhanced job vacancy search tools for their membership. This bespoke solution will enable members to receive job alerts and directly access relevant job opportunities online, applying at the click of a mouse, using a stored CV and unique covering letter.
Eteach and ATL are also working together to develop a unique Student Job Finder service within both the maintained and independent sector.
NAHT
With a membership of over 30,000, the National Association of Head Teachers (NAHT) is the largest organisation of its kind in Europe. It has provided over a century of dedicated support to its members and speaks with authority and strength on educational issues covering primary, secondary and special school sectors.
With many NAHT members facing teacher recruitment issues, the association believed that members could benefit from a quicker and more cost-effective alternative.
Eteach became an NAHT partner and, as the only online teacher recruitment service recommended by NAHT, is able to offer NAHT members a discount of the Eteach recruitment service.
NUT
The National Union of Teachers (NUT) is the largest and most influential teachers' organisation in England and Wales. It is a trade union and a professional association, working on professional and curricular issues as well as conditions of service and pay. The NUT only recruits qualified teachers, or those who are on courses or in posts that will lead to teacher qualification, so it is best placed to speak on behalf of the profession. The NUT prioritises the interests of teachers, including all of their professional needs.
To help teachers make their next move in the profession, the NUT provide their members with an online Job Club through the union's website. Powered by Eteach, the Job Club gives NUT members an instant job search facility, which allows them to search and apply for jobs online. They can also sign up for alerts to tell them when suitable jobs are posted, saving teachers time in looking and applying for jobs and helping schools speed up the recruitment process.
Teachers have very little time to dedicate to their own professional development. Online recruitment helps teachers by saving them time - job alerts mean that NUT members never have to miss out on hearing about an advertised vacancy. The NUT Job Club provided by Eteach through www.teachers.org.uk is used by thousands of members.
UCAC
Eteach and the Welsh speaking teachers’ union, UCAC, have responded to concerns about difficulties in recruiting Welsh-speaking teachers by working in partnership to create an interactive website.
About 500 schools in Wales - a quarter of the total – teach through the medium of Welsh. Although they do not all face the teacher shortages experienced elsewhere in the UK, there are definite and commonly agreed problems in finding Welsh speaking teachers in an increasing number of subjects, including Science and Welsh as a second language.
The UCAC recruitment website is based on the functionality of Eteach’s existing website, www.eteach.com, making the user experience (be that teacher, school, or LA) available through the Welsh language. This will provide an important new network for the education community in Wales, including LAs and the initial teacher training colleges: “We’re very excited about the new site, as there’s a real need for this type of service,” said Edwyn Williams, UCAC’s General Secretary, “and we’re hopeful that this will help our schools find the teachers they need.”
VOICE
VOICE - The Union for Education Professionals is an independent trade union and professional association for teachers, head teachers, lecturers, childcarers and education support staff. It works to promote the best possible practice in education and childcare.
Although VOICE is not the largest union for teachers and childcarers, its size means that it is able to offer a guaranteed personal service to members, with time for their individual needs. With around 34,000 members, VOICE plays an important role at national level.
VOICE believes in always putting the interests of children and students first, so members never strike or take other forms of industrial action. This ensures that VOICE is highly effective and widely respected because of its policy of resolving problems between employers and employees by negotiation, not conflict. It is the union for the whole team of education and childcare professionals working together for children, pupils and students.
In partnership with VOICE, Eteach has developed a job search and application tool for its members and looks forward to developing future initiatives jointly.
