Pilsley Church of England Primary School is a voluntary aided school in the Diocese of Derby. it is situated in Pilsley Village on the Chatsworth estate.The original building was opened in 1849 and in 1967 was extended to provide an additional classroom with its own cloakroom and toilet facilities. There are two classrooms, a hall, kitchen and combined office and staff room. An extension to the school was built in 1998. An Early Years Suite was provided on the ground floor, with a resource room and new toilets on the first floor.A new extension to the school is being built this year. This will provide an additional classroom and toilets and a new school entrance from the village green. There is a large playground with a hard surface and also grassed areas and a separate school playing field.The school is co-educational catering for children from 4 to 11 years of age. We have 50 pupils on roll at present.Our classes have mixed age/ability groups. As a result of this expansion, we are seeking to appoint 2 enthusiastic committed teachers to fill 2 teaching posts from September. The classes will be re-organised to give a good teacher/pupil ratio throughout the school.We have a Parent/Toddler group I afternoon per week.Our Pre-School Nursery is open 5 afternoons per week.
