Fazakerley is a mixed 11-18 Comprehensive serving a well established community in the north of Liverpool. It currently has 761 pupils but this is due to rise substantially in September 2002 when we will receive an additional cohort of pupils as a result of a nearby school closing.
The school's popularity was further improved when it was announced that we would be moving into completely brand new premises in September 2003 as a result of the Liverpool PFI initiative.
Work on the new school will commence in May 2002, until then we will remain in our existing buildings. Late Spring 2003 will see the new school commissioned ready for us to move curriculum materials into the new building during Summer 2003.
We hope to equip every classroom with new furniture and communication/media equipment. All departments will have the use of interactive whiteboards.
The design of the new school has taken over a year to finalise and we believe we will have one of the best designed and attractive schools in the country. Facilities for pupils and staff will be first class.
In addition to the newly built school we will be refurbishing our Sports Centre so that we can provide even better sporting and leisure facilities for pupils, staff and the community. We are currently seeking a further £400,000 to build an all-weather complex on the playing fields.
We believe strongly that our pupils and staff deserve first class facilities and we are determined to achieve this goal.
