It was subsequently re-opened in new buildings in Clee Road and became the boys’ Grammar School in the area in 1882. It became known as the Clee Foundation School and admitted boys from Cleethorpes and the surrounding villages. Following the Education Act of 1944 it became the boys’ Grammar School for the area. When comprehensive education was established in Cleethorpes in 1973, The Grammar School merged with the Beacon Hill co-educational secondary modern school to form the Matthew Humberstone Church of England Comprehensive School.Today Matthew Humberstone is a popular comprehensive school.
