Fairstead House School

At Fairstead House, we pride ourselves on being a friendly, caring and happy community with a unique family ethos. I am always delighted to show parents round personally and answer any queries you may have on this most important of decisions. By visiting us you will experience our unique atmosphere and see first hand the excellent facilities we have developed over recent years.

We ensure that all pupils have the benefit of a fulfilling and well-rounded education, thus providing them with every opportunity to develop individual interests and talents from an early age. Whilst the National Curriculum is the cornerstone of our aims and objectives, we believe in the importance of traditional teaching.

Fairstead House was founded in 1950 by Rosamonde Taylor and following her retirement in 1978, ownership passed to a charitable trust. A co-educational day school for children aged 3 to 11, Fairstead House School is situated close to the centre of historic Newmarket, headquarters of the 'Sport of Kings', and adjacent to the famous 'gallops'.

The present Headmistress, Mrs. Deborah Buckenham, was appointed in 1996 and is a member of Incorporated Association of Preparatory Schools.

Aims of the School
We ensure that all pupils have the benefit of a fulfilling and well-rounded education, thus providing them with every opportunity to develop individual interests and talents from an early age. Whilst the National Curriculum is the cornerstone of our aims and objectives, we believe in the importance of traditional teaching.

It is our aim to encourage and develop self-discipline and to promote caring, polite and well-mannered behaviour in our pupils.
