Stantonbury Campus

Stantonbury Campus

The Campus is a large and successful comprehensive school providing education for 2600 students (12-18) including c500 post-16.

Provision for the wider community includes a professionally equipped theatre and small art gallery, a leisure centre and stadium and a large and varied adult continuing education programme. The Campus is managed and led by a principal, a deputy headteacher team and a wider leadership group including the heads of faculty.

The school is divided into five sections known as Halls for the purposes of day-to-day management. Each Hall comprises approximately 500 students and 30 teachers, providing an appropriate structure for individual challenge in a large organisation.

In 1998 the Campus gained specialist arts college status, specialising in the performing and visual arts. This has led to enhancement of the arts curriculum in all years and a significant development in ICT facilities. All teachers are provided with a lap top computer.

The Campus is regularly over-subscribed pre- and post-16. Its intake is truly comprehensive with significant numbers (approximately 120) progressing each year to higher education, while the needs of others are served by a committed and expert special needs faculty.

Examination results are good pre- and post-16 and continue to improve each year. Results at 5 A*-C, 5A*-G, 1A*-G and average point score are excellent in value added terms as is the post-16 average point score. The completion rate in GNVQ programmes is very good. The Campus philosophy stresses equal value and determined optimism about the potential for success for each of its students. This philosophy is reflected in the results outlined above and the two School Achievement Awards.
