Putney Park School

Putney Park School, established in 1953, is situated in a quiet road off the main Upper Richmond Road within three minutes' walk of the bus stop. It is easily accessible from all parts of Putney, Roehampton, East Sheen, Barnes and Wimbledon.

Classrooms are bright and well equipped. Specialist rooms include three science laboratories, a computer room, two libraries, a home economics room, art, music and drama rooms.

There are pleasant gardens and playgrounds.

Policy

The aim of the school is to provide a sound education in a happy atmosphere.

The teachers are chosen for their qualifications, their experience and their understanding of the needs of their pupils.

Small class sizes ensure that pupils are given the maximum individual attention andencouragement to reach the highest standards possible.

Curriculum

The organisation of the curriculum enables the School to realise the demands of the National Curriculum.

Our policy is to embrace the positive aspects of the National Curriculum within our work and to exceed these where we think it is necessary.

Subjects include, at the appropriate stage, English, mathematics, religious education, history, geography, biology, chemistry, physics, drama, French (from Reception), Spanish (from Year 7), home economics, child development, information and communication technology, music, crafts, art and design and physical education.

Games and Activities

Physical activities include tennis, swimming, netball, cricket, badminton, volleyball, rounders, football, athletics, squash and rowing.

Inter-school and inter-house matches and swimming galas take place frequently.

Visits to places of interest in and around London take place every term.
School journeys overseas are arranged each year.

Concerts, plays and musicals are regularly performed.
Our choirs take part in national events.

Singing lessons and individual tuition in a wide range of musical instruments are available

Optional Extras

Arrangements can be made for pupils from abroad to receive English Language lessons and for pupils with dyslexia to receive specialist help.

Uniform

The School colours are grey and gold.
The uniform is sold at the School.

Parents' Association

The 'Friends of Putney Park' is an active and successful association, arranging social and fund-raising events.
