GENERAL DESCRIPTIONLocationEgglescliffe is a High Performing Specialist School for the Performing Arts and Science. It is situated in a pleasant residential suburb on the south-western fringe of Cleveland. It is half a mile from the small country town of Yarm to the south, close to the larger urban centres of Stockton and Middlesbrough and with good access to open country - the North Yorkshire Moors and Dales and coast. Road and rail links connect with Teesside Airport and with Darlington to the west. The school is currently over-subscribed, with a total roll of 1450 including 300 post 16 students.Premises & ResourcesAlthough the school is over forty years old we have constantly up-graded and re-furbished our buildings. The physical environment for teaching and learning is very good and includes the following facilities:-¨ Five networked computer rooms, including a multi-media room, all with Internet access and E-mail.¨ All classrooms and all laboratories are equipped with digital projectors linked to laptops or PCs.¨ Sixth form common room, internet cafe, study rooms and PC suite.¨ Refurbished and computerised Library and Resources Centre, with up to date book stock, multi-media PCs and sixth form reference section.¨ A Music suite with recording studio, PC suite for composition, rehearsal area and practice rooms.¨ A Studio Theatre, seating 250, with advanced lighting and sound equipment.¨ Four Art rooms with photographic facilities, Sixth form studio and resources for ceramics and 3D work.¨ Eight Technology rooms with control electronics, graphics, textiles and food facilities.¨ Sports facilities include a flood lit astro-turf sports pitch, large sports hall, gymnasium, fitness room, extensive playing fields and refurbished changing rooms.¨ Well equipped specialist teaching areas for all subjects, including nine science laboratories (3 of which were completing re-furbished in 2007).Modern dining rooms operating a cashless catering system for pupils in KS3 and KS4.
