Ealing is a vibrant, diverse and culturally rich borough only 6 miles west of central London. It has a wide choice of schools in areas which, range from leafy green to city suburbs. All schools reflect the rich cultural diversity of the community and offer you a positive, supportive and professional environment in which to develop your full career potential.
We need talented and committed professionals who will enjoy the challenges of working in a multi-cultural and multi-lingual environment.
It's worth noting that:
All teachers receive inner London allowance.
We have a superb induction programme with quality support, advice, and in service training.
The LEA provides professional support for all subject areas and all schools.
All teachers have access to Continuous Professional Development throughout their career with us.
A recent OFSTED report identified that Ealing LEA has 'achieved a great deal' and is a 'well led' and improving authority.
The Borough has a population of approximately 285,000 and a school population of about 35,000. The school population is very much multi-cultural and multi-faith in character with more than one hundred different mother tongues represented within the pupil population.
The diversity of provision available in Ealing is one of the best in London. We maintain 2 Early Years' Centres (based on 5 sites) and run a well established 'Children Information Service' which helps identify suitable childcare provision such as an after school club or childminder.
Ealing has long been recognised for the quality of education at the borough’s 65 primary schools. Key Stage 1 and 2 tests show year-on-year improvements, and Ealing's primary schools have consistently improving OFSTED inspections.
The 13 high schools in Ealing offer an exciting range of provision for pupils' aged 11-19 and achievement at GCSE and GNVQ is a significant strength in our schools. Many have achieved specialist status and currently there are two Sports Colleges, one Language College, one Arts College and one Technology College.
Special Educational Needs
Ealing sets out to ensure that pupils with special educational needs enjoy quality education and learning opportunities appropriate to their learning ability. Our approach is inclusive and all schools can reply on staunch support from the LEA. The borough maintains six Special Schools and several of these were praised by OFSTED for the quality of their provision. Ealing also has one study centre (on three sites).
The Education Service
Ealing schools and the Education Service continue to work closely and purposefully to raise standards of achievement and the quality of educational provision for Ealing children. Equal opportunities remain an inherent part of the LEAs value framework and the service takes pride in its cultural diversity.
The Service has a strong reputation for its training and support programme but also has a range of other specialist services which, exists to support all schools and staff. This includes the Education Inspection and Advice Service, Training and Development Service the Education Psychology Service, the Education Social Work Service, Ealing Education Centre, the Schools’ Personnel and Bursarial Units, Education Personnel and Governors’ Support Services. There are also a range of business partnerships including the Education Action Zone and Early Years' Development Partnerships
