Haileybury Almaty is the first British public school to open in Central Asia, further expanding the global trend for the export of British schooling. This successful and expanding British School, founded in September 2008 is continuing to grow and, eventually will be a school for 600 pupils from 5 – 18 years. The British national curriculum is taught in Key Stages 1, 2, 3 and IGCSE in Key Stage 4 with the intention of IB provision in the Sixth Form. The teaching medium is English, yet the school will strive to be renowned as a centre of distinction for the teaching of Kazakh language and history. In addition to academic excellence, there is a strong emphasis on the arts and sports. Though the school is only at the start of what, it is hoped, will be a long and illustrious history, our ethos and values, as illustrated in the school’s philosophy, are firmly traditional in nature, being built upon our close relationship with the prestigious Haileybury in England. Haileybury Almaty offers a quality of educational experience that reflects, replicates and achieves the same excellence provided at its partner school, Haileybury in England. It is the mission of Haileybury Almaty, the flagship of Capital Partners Almaty Project, to match the exceptional standards of its partner school by combining the traditions and educational expertise of Haileybury with the dynamism that lies at the heart of the Kazakhstan’s vision for the future. The provision of state-of-the-art facilities and resources for day students enables Haileybury Almaty to offer the highest standard of education to families both within Kazakhstan and also the wider community of Central Asia, placing Almaty at the centre of educational excellence within the region. A culturally rich and diverse country, Kazakhstan offers many opportunities. As at Haileybury in England, all Haileybury Almaty students in Almaty are encouraged to think for themselves and to think of others. The search for academic excellence often takes centre-stage, but personal development in the form of moral strength and stability, creativity and physical well-being is equally important. Our philosophy, ‘the best for every child’, places an equal emphasis both on the wide-ranging nature of a Haileybury education and our commitment to individual student welfare. We are developing an educational environment where happy, confident, ambitious and well-adjusted children acquire enthusiasm for learning and play a full part in the corporate life of the school. Mr Andrew Auster, previously Head of Orwell Park Prep School in Suffolk, is the founding Headmaster of Haileybury Almaty.Master of Haileybury in England, Stuart Westley, says: “Haileybury is delighted to be part of this exciting opportunity which reflects the great interest in and respect for the values of the British public school clearly evident now in many parts of the world.”
