Relationships both in the Staff Room and in the Classroom have been described by many as “very special”. Visitors often comment on our friendly and caring ethos - which is evident throughout the school as an integral part of the environment.We are one of just two schools in this area which operate a non-selective admissions policy. This, combined with other local factors, has led us to be recognised as facing challenging circumstances by the Department for Education and Skills. Possibly, this is what makes our staff so special. Teaching at Francis Combe is incredibly rewarding.The school prides itself on embracing many new whole school initiatives and is at the cutting edge of trialling and piloting many new schemes. Recently these have included: Piloting the KS3 Strategy, Modularising the whole Curriculum, Learning Styles, School Self-Evaluation and a new Discipline for Learning Policy. As a result of the school’s innovative and dynamic forward thinking, teaching is an enriching experience, with many opportunities for personal and professional development.
