Allerton Grange is sited 3 miles from Leeds city centre in an attractive area of residential property, most of which is privately owned. As part of the Building Schools for the Future programme, we moved in to a purpose-built new school on our existing site at the beginning of September 2009. The new building is quite simply stunning in terms of its scale, design and finish. Our new building boasts state-of-the-art learning resources in a twenty-first century learning environment. We are taking advantage of the opportunities created by moving into our new build to transform what we do at Allerton Grange. There have recently been significant changes to our curriculum, our approach to student support, care and guidance and much more.
We combine the benefits of a large school, with its many opportunities to study a wide range of subjects, with a friendly environment which is socially and culturally varied. Our aim is that all students are safe, taught well and encouraged to develop skills and talents. That is why a scheduled Ofsted inspection under the new, more rigorous framework, judged Allerton Grange to be a good school, commenting that students, including those in the sixth form, achieve well in their examinations, with good teaching, good behaviour and above average attendance.
Once again, we begin a new academic year celebrating some outstanding examination results. Our summer 2012 outcomes provided better A Level results than ever before, placing us in the top 10% of A Level providers nationally.
We will all work hard this year to continue to provide outstanding support for our students and further improve examination outcomes.
