This vision and our values provide the backbone to everything we want our whole school community to experience on a daily basis and for the full time that all adults and children belong to our school. 

Our belief is in the power of children as learners. This means it is our role to engage and motivate that learning; to give them the desire to be successful as learners not simply to turn up and be taught. To do that we as adults have to be fully engaged, wanting to learn ourselves and wanting to share that with others. 

It is our responsibility to ensure all children start from a basis of being safe, secure and cared for and helping them to overcome the barriers that can often inhibit their success. It is then our intention to make the most of this by stretching their view of the world around them, challenging their perceptions, developing their knowledge and understanding of each other and the world as it is. 

We are very proud of our school. It has a strong tradition of successful learning and achievement. Most importantly of all it is an environment that benefits from the collaboration and commitment of many in our community towards enabling the children to grow and develop the skills that lead to them being successful people. 

We are looking to build lasting partnerships with children and parents and we are continually striving to find new ways to make these stronger and more beneficial to everyone. We believe that when we work together the outcome can only be one that benefits everyone. Nothing is predetermined. The opportunity is there! 

Our vision and values have been created as a result of consultation with the whole school community and the congregation of St Mary’s Church, Stoke Bishop. The process was one of many debates, suggestions and drafts and as a result we believe we have distilled the main essence of the rich history of our school and given direction to the amazing future we have ahead of us.
