We aim to ensure that every child has a happy and successful time at Fountain Primary School. We foster an environment where children are encouraged to succeed and where they can be independent, self-motivated thinkers
The school supports the ambition that children, whatever their background or circumstances, will only achieve high standards in education if every child in the school community is ready to learn and feels included. As a school we focus on the five outcomes for children; that they shall be healthy, stay safe, enjoy life and achieve their best, make a positive contribution to society and develop the skills needed for economic well-being.
We aim to:
- develop lively enquiring minds, which are able to question and argue rationally;
- enable children to apply themselves to both learning tasks and physical skills;
- enable children to use language and numbers effectively;
- help children to develop moral values;
- encourage children to have respect for religious values and understanding of other races, religions and cultures;
- enable children to understand the world in which they live and the interdependence of individuals, groups and nations;
- appreciate human achievements and aspirations;
- ensure that children know the difference between right and wrong.
We achieve this by:
putting learning at the heart of all we do;
- structuring learning of reading, writing and numeracy;
- providing a broad, rich and differentiated curriculum;
- providing a happy, safe environment where children feel secure;
- establishing relationships of trust and mutual respect;
- promoting pride in our learning achievements through effective rewards;
- showing pride in achievement through high quality displays of children’s work;
- welcoming representatives from the wider community;
- both welcoming and developing parent/carer partnerships;
- having agreed rules and sanctions, which are used consistently in the school;
- expecting children to achieve high standards in their work, their behaviour and in the way they treat each other.
We believe that each child should have:
- an awareness of appropriate behaviour;
- trustworthiness;
- a positive self image, embracing pride;
- courtesy and consideration;
- self discipline and a sense of responsibility;
- an awareness of the effects of their behaviour on others.
We have a committed team of staff with shared aims and philosophies, designed to offer a wide range of opportunities to the children, including high standards of achievement and a high quality of learning experiences.
