Foxborough is an extremely diverse, multi-cultural mixed Primary school catering for children aged 3 to 11 years with 418 pupils on roll. We are very proud of our many languages, cultures, creeds and that we are “the most improved school in Slough”. An increasingly successful school in all aspects of its work, it offers children great opportunities for creative and social development whilst also achieving success developing basic skills as evidenced by the school’s increasing success in statutory assessments.
The school has a wonderful cosmopolitan mix. The largest single group, 23%, are from White British backgrounds whilst many are from the Indian sub-continent of Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi backgrounds which together account for 30% of our pupils. The next largest groups are from Black African backgrounds, principally Somalia and children and families from the expanded EU, mainly Poland. We also have a growing number of Traveller pupils.
Foxborough is divided into two phases, Early Years/Key Stage 1 (Lower School) and Key Stage 2 (Upper School) both of which are led by a phase leader / Assistant Head. We also have an 8 place resource for profoundly deaf children, which currently accommodates 6 children. The school uses a Total Communication approach with these children, principally involving BSL sign language and aided speech.
The school is a partnership school with Reading and Oxford Brookes universities and offers practice places for students on BEd or PGCE courses. With Thames Valley University and East Berkshire College it is involved in childcare and TA (teacher assistant) training and we also work with Slough Grammar School and Reading University on the GTP programme.
