Overview

Our facilities include a heated swimming pool for use by all our children in the summer term, libraries, resource areas, Music Suite and changing facilities. We have an ICT suite with 32 multimedia computers and two computers in each classroom all connected to the Internet via a broadband connection. Each classroom also has an interactive whiteboard attached to a laptop.

Many of our children move on to The Winston Churchill School (Foundation School) and most come to us from Knaphill Lower School, thus forming a stable chain for the children in their school careers. Close links are maintained with both schools, but particularly with Knaphill Lower School, which is a three-minute walk away adjacent to the local park and recreation ground. Our school field is adjacent to the grounds of Knaphill Lower School and it is used for many of our sporting activities.

The school has three classes in each year group and class sizes vary from 28 to 30 pupils. The teaching staff consists of 12 class teachers plus Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher and a specialist teacher of French. Every teacher assumes responsibility for a minimum of one area of the curriculum, and provide at least one extra-curricular activity for the children. Newly Qualified Teachers are encouraged to concentrate initially on their class teaching skills, before developing other responsibilities.

About Us

Our school attracts most of its children from the village of Knaphill, which provides a variety of backgrounds. Inherent in a village community is stability readily evident in the children, who are enthusiastic and articulate. At Knaphill Junior School, we believe passionately in developing the whole child and enabling our pupils to be the very best they can be. At the heart of this is a commitment to high quality core skills in English and Mathematics, as these are the foundation stones of learning.

We aim to capture and develop this enthusiasm, ever mindful that the children will give of their best when they are happy, actively involved and interested in what they are doing. It is essential, therefore, that the staff of the School, teaching and non-teaching alike, is committed to the children, and to each other. Teamwork is vital if we are to enable the children to give of their best. The parents are seen very much as part of this team, and are encouraged to be involved in the School in a positive way, and to feel they are always welcome. The PTA (combined with Knaphill Lower School) is energetic in its social and fund-raising activities.
