Primrose Hill Primary School is a 3 – 11 Primary School situated in Stanningley on the western outskirts of Leeds close to the border with Bradford. The school is a Victorian building with a recently added modern extension which houses Foundation Stage and KS1 pupils. Most pupils come from the immediate area and live in housing which is rented from the local authority, rented from Housing Associations or private and terraced. There are currently 399 pupils on roll, organised into twelve classes and a 39 place Nursery. At Primrose Hill the school’s ethos aims and values are founded in the belief that every individual is valued. The talents of all staff and all pupils are recognised and encouraged. We have high expectations of all pupils and staff and achieve good results through hard work and determined efforts. Primrose Hill is an inclusive school. Provision for pupils with Special Educational needs is very good and we have a good reputation in the community. We have recently been awarded the Leeds Inclusion Chartermark.We have been awarded the Basic Skills Quality Mark which acknowledges our commitment to providing good quality teaching and learning in Literacy and Numeracy. We have been awarded Artsmark Gold from The Arts Councilon three successive occasions following revalidation. This award recognises our commitment to providing good quality learning experiences across all arts subjects and to developing creativity across the curriculum.Our school has been chosen as a ‘Food for Life’ Flagship school and we are a silver award holder which recognizes our commitment to promoting growing activities and improving food culture within school and the local community. We are a ‘Healthy School’ and have recently been re-validated with this status. As a school we are always looking for opportunities to extend and enrich the curriculum. There is an excellent range of lunchtime and after school clubs which operate. These include: football, basketball, netball, gardening, street dance, art, music, homework, family computer club and friendship club. These are led by teachers, support staff and in some instances professional coaches. Whole school ‘focus weeks’ and ‘enrichment afternoons’ provide further opportunities to add to the breadth and balance of the curriculum. Our school is committed to staff development and training. We have experience of working with students including those undertaking the Graduate Teaching Programme.
