Flixton Girls’ High School is a girls’ secondary modern school working within the context of Trafford’s selective system. The number on roll is at present 1026. The school attracts a good number of pupils who live out of zone. We cater for a wide ability range; Year 7 is organised in mixed ability groups, but from Year 8 onwards the girls are setted according to ability across two equal populations. The needs of all pupils requiring special help are met through class teaching, differentiated material, withdrawing children for individual or small group work and the use of LEA classroom support teachers and school subject specialists. All girls follow examination courses, and the school achieves excellent G.C.S.E. results. In 2003, 44% of girls gained 5 or more passes at A* - C, 92.5% gained 5 or more passes at A* - G and 97% gained one or more passes at A* - G. All girls are encouraged to become successful and independent learners. A strict homework policy is enforced, supported by a planned homework timetable.
