Medway is a city in the making, made up of the towns of Chatham, Gillingham, Rochester, Strood and Rainham. It is a unique urban area in the heart of the Thames Gateway, a national priority area for regeneration and growth. While Medway has a rich and diverse history it is also well placed to grasp the opportunities offered to develop into a city of learning, culture, tourism and enterprise.
The children's workforce and everyone working in Medway's schools are committed to promoting and supporting high education standards for all. Seeking continous improvements is one of our top priorities. With one in five of Medway's population aged 14 or below, education is top of the agenda. The Local Authority maintains over 100 schools, with around 18 Secondary, 80 Primary, and 4 Special Schools. There is plenty of choice ranging from small rural Primary Schools to large urban Comprehensive Schools.
