Fairfield Primary Academy is a large two-storey Primary School, built in 1952, serving the small town of Stapleford which is an industrial suburb of Nottingham. There is a wide social mix amongst the pupils with both owner-occupied and rented housing. The majority of our pupils come from within the immediate catchment area of the school.
The school is larger than most Primary Schools (National average 235 pupils) with approximately 420 on roll. The percentages of children known to be eligible for free school meals (14%) and for Special Educational Needs (21%) are just below national averages. We are one of only two schools in Nottinghamshire that has an intake of children at age 5 and at age 7. There is currently one class per year group within Key Stage 1 (Reception, Year 1 and Year 2), and three classes per year group within Key Stage 2 (Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6).
Most children transfer, at the end of Key Stage 2, to The George Spencer Academy. Our feeder Infant School is William Lilley Infant and Nursery School. The majority of pupils have had some pre-school experience before entry at age 5. Such is the reputation of the school that we have an increasing number of children being admitted from other areas.
The school is set in attractive grounds next to a park. The children and staff have great pride in our school and we wish to maintain our environment to very high standards. The school has recently undergone a complete internal redecoration programme.
