Welcome

A message from the Co-Headteachers

Tucked away in a corner of Southmead we have a dedicated, talented and exceptionally caring staff who are ambitious for and champion every single child to be the best they can be. We have a fantastic environment to support and inspire children, and an ethos that believes in the potential of each and every child. We place a high value on well-being and mental health, alongside academic achievement.

Ofsted visited us in September 2022 and judged us to be GOOD in all areas which is a judgement we are very proud of.

Our school motto ‘working together, achieving together’ underpins our commitment to working collaboratively with our learners, parents and carers and the local community, so that when our children move on from Fonthill they know that they have achieved personal, social and academic success.

We are part of Trust in Learning (Academies) (TiLA), a local  Multi-Academy Trust, (tilacademies.co.uk) which supports our collaborative work. Within Trust in Learning, we are committed to equalities in all aspects of our work. We strive to achieve a cohesive community where all members feel respected, valued and fully included in school life. We offer breakfast club and after-school club to support families in every way that we can.

Our School Council

Take a look at the goals we have set for the previous year!

couciill.png

Our school councillors are elected three times a year. This means that 6 children get to represent their class over the course of the year. One person is elected from the class vote and one person is elected by teacher choice. All children have to present to their class why they should be chosen and the final vote is cast in an election.

This year 2022 - 2023 the school council have been very busy! They have:

Organised and analysed a whole school anti-bullying and well-being questionnaire.

Completed an e-safety newsletter about Safer Internet day.

Produced posters and shared a new book with each class about what to do if they are worried.

Produced an anti-bullying child friendly poster for our Say No to Bullying policy.

Helped to organise KS1 playground buddies to support with play at lunchtime.

Organised a FIRE display in the school hall with work and photos.

Presented their work in a whole school assembly with parents invited.

ABOUT TRUST IN LEARNING (ACADEMIES)

trust_in_learning_logo.png

Trust in Learning is an education charity formed in 2008 and is an Academy Sponsor based in Bristol whose principal purpose is to create inclusive education communities that provide excellent education and excellent outcomes for children and young people.

There continues to be a degree of misunderstanding about academies and academy trusts. We are a charity whose civic responsibility is to help improve the education of children. We support schools across educational sectors from nursery and primary to secondary and special schools.

In particular Trust in Learning is committed to helping to overcome the inequalities between our communities so that every one of our children can learn well and can prosper.
