Headteacher's Welcome

Mrs Stilwell - Headteacher

WELCOME TO OUR SCHOOL

Inspiring belief in God and one another

St Richard’s CE Primary School is a small, welcoming school where children are encouraged to believe in themselves and be aspirational about their future lives.

Our Christian values of Compassion, Courage, Forgiveness, Friendship, Perseverance and Respect are integral to school life and all we do. The school offers a friendly, nurturing and supportive learning environment with close links to St Richard’s Church next door. We are also part of the LDBS Academies Trust.

Children at St Richard’s have access to a creative, fun and well-planned curriculum to broaden their interests, knowledge and skills. We provide exciting and engaging experiences to develop confident, curious children with a love of learning.

We have high expectations of everyone in our school community. We believe that children learn best when they feel happy, safe, stimulated and challenged. Our staff are committed to giving every child the very best learning experience so that they go on to be independent, self-motivated and responsible individuals.

It is a privilege to be the Headteacher of such a vibrant and wonderful school community. I hope you enjoy looking at our website and would be very happy to welcome you if you would like to come and visit us and meet our children and their teachers.

Vision and Values

OUR SCHOOL VISION

To enable everyone in our school community to flourish through opportunity and belief in themselves. We aim to instil in our children a deep love of learning; the confidence to face challenges; and to have high aspirations for their future lives and each other, just as God has planned for them.

Our vision is based on the biblical text Jeremiah 29.v11.:

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”.

We summarise our vision with our school motto:

Inspiring belief in God and one another

OUR SCHOOL VALUES

The values of the school help the community to live out the vision:

Compassion

Helping and being kind and patient with others.

‘Clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.’

Colossians 3.v12.

Courage

Having the confidence and self-belief to do something challenging.

‘Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.’

Joshua 1.v9.

Forgiveness

Being able to say sorry and being accepting of others’ apologies. Deciding not to be upset with another person or ourselves. Not holding a grudge.

‘Just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you must also forgive others.’

Colossians 3.v13.

Friendship

Forming positive relationships through trust, truthfulness, support and encouragement. Always having someone to rely on.

‘Encourage one another and build each other up.’

1 Thessalonians 5.v11.

Perseverance

Not giving up and learning from our mistakes. Having the self-belief and determination to overcome difficulties and succeed, now and as a lifelong learner.

‘I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.’

Philippians 4.v13.

Respect

Treating others as you would like to be treated. Having regard for the feelings, wishes and rights of others. Having good manners.

‘Do to others as you would have them do to you.’

Matthew 7.v12.
