Welcome Message From The Principal

It is impossible to tell you all about Peter Symonds College in just a few words, so please come and see for yourself at one of our open evenings. There is a tremendous range of opportunities on offer and you have some very important decisions ahead.

You have probably heard very good things about us. We are very proud of our excellent reputation. A brilliant mix of motivated students, dedicated staff and fantastic facilities makes Peter Symonds a vibrant and positive place to study. Ofsted has rated us as 'Outstanding' in every respect. Even so, we are always looking for ways to improve.

We are a friendly and supportive community, with high aspirations for all: just ask our students at open evening! Our college motto has long been 'Counting in ones' and we therefore ensure that each and every one of our students is treated as an individual.

I very much look forward to welcoming you to the College.

About Us

341099102_1238686206764965_3210298970204598897_n.jpg

Peter Symonds College has around 4,500 full time students aged 16-19 most of whom study A levels or equivalent. We offer an exceptional range of subjects, dedicated pastoral care and opportunities for sport and other enrichment activities that are second to none. Additionally, we have a thriving adult and higher education provision, much of which is based at a separate site. Unusually, we have boarding provision and take students from as far away as the Falkland Islands. We are members of the Wessex Group of Sixth Form Colleges and the Maple Group, giving us access to the benefits of excellent shared practice and assisting us in influencing national debate around sixth form education.

The Wessex Group of Sixth Form Colleges is a partnership of 14 Sixth Form Colleges primarily based in Hampshire, Southampton and Portsmouth. We work together to provide value for money and best serve the needs of young people in their communities.

The Maple Group is a partnership of many of the country's leading sixth form colleges, united by a common interest in maintaining and promoting outstanding teaching and learning for young people. Maple Group colleges approach education holistically, ensuring that educational provision is complemented by outstanding support and opportunities to enrich the learning experience outside of the classroom.
