About Us

The Federation of Hackbridge Primary School & Spencer Nursery School are based across three sites.

About Hackbridge Primary School

Our school was built over 100 years ago. We became a primary school in September 2002 when Hackbridge Infants and Juniors merged to become one primary school. A sports hall has been a welcome addition to our site and this was completed in June 2006.

In November 2016 we formed a hard federation with Spencer Nursery School enabling us to offer education from 0 - 11 across our 3 sites.

Having been a popular three form entry primary school with a maintained nursery for many years, we became a four form entry primary school, with maintained nurseries, on a split site as of autumn 2019.

Our original ‘Hackbridge Corner’ site houses both 15-hour and 30-hour nurseries and Reception, Years 1, 2, 5 and 6.

Our new ‘London Road’ site houses Years 3 and 4.

Our London Road site is the first Passivhaus plus school in the UK.

Across both sites, the school is very fortunate to have specialist provisions for ICT, Music, Design & Technology/Art and well-equipped libraries. In addition to these, we also have a specialist Sports Hall at our 'Hackbridge Corner' site and are very excited about the addition of a new playing field on our 'London Road' site. On both sites, we have wonderful pond areas providing an ideal space for science and quiet activities.

About Spencer Nursery School

Spencer Nursery School was originally built in 1946 and has provided education on the same site ever since. In 2004 the site was extended and refurbished to enable us to extend our provision to provide childcare and education for children under 3 years of age.

We are a local authority maintained nursery school with additional private childcare provision for children under five, open for 51 weeks of the year. We are committed to delivering high-quality affordable childcare and education.

Spencer Nursery School is registered from birth and provides places for children from 3 months to 4 years.
