Overview

The Priory C of E Primary is a voluntary aided Church of England school, which is owned by the Richard Thornton Foundation.

The school offers excellent facilities for all curriculum subjects. We have specialist areas for art, music, drama, information technology and a large, well resourced library. We are fortunate to benefit from a large playground, an award winning wildlife garden and field for children to play in. The nursery and reception classes have their own playing areas directly outside their classrooms. The school welcomes children from all nationalities and faiths.

Children with special educational needs are welcomed and well provided for, both in terms of teaching and facilities. Spacious classrooms on all floors are accessible by lift for anyone with a physical disability.

About Us

Our vision and values are the bedrock on which our school thrives. We seek to give all children the opportunity to learn the skills they need for adult life as well as experiencing the arts, sport, humanities and creativity within the curriculum.

We want to maintain high standards while ensuring the children have opportunities to explore the world around them in a fun and memorable way. Our Christian and moral values help guide the children in their everyday experiences and relationships and we welcome families of all faiths to join our school community. We believe it is important to help the children gain a sense of self worth and to increase their confidence in order to take risks in their learning.

Encouraging positive behaviour and healthy lifestyles are key to achieving well educated and happy pupils. Learning is made fun and interesting by visits out into the community and events such as Arts Week, One-Day Spectaculars and Healthy Schools Fortnight. We hold special themed weeks linked to Science, Maths and Literacy which are very popular and conclude in an exhibition of the children’s work for the whole school to enjoy. We believe it is the values and commitment of the whole school community which makes The Priory a vibrant and thriving place for children to grow and become confident learners.
