I'm service personnel and I want to become a teacher

More than just a career move...

If you have served for at least 4 years and are within 5 years of discharge at the start of the programme you may be eligible for a Troops to Teachers course. This 2 to 3 year non-graduate programme has been designed specifically for service personnel who wish to make the career move into teaching. The Troops to Teachers leads to an honours degree with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

The length of the course is dependent on the course provider and any Credit Accumulation and Transfer Scheme (CATS) points acquired. To receive the £40,000 bursary, applicants must be planning to teach secondary maths, biology, chemistry, physics, computing, or modern foreign languages.
