FEjobs off to a Flying Start - UNISON, the specialist further education recruitment service, announced this week more than 25% of AoC colleges have signed up just 16 weeks after its launch in December 2004. Uptake has been especially prevalent in the London area with 40% of colleges already registered.

“We welcome this initiative, which provides UNISON members with a free, specialist FE job-seeking facility," said UNISON's head of education Christina McAnea.

The site, developed in association with the Association of Colleges (AoC), has already attracted hundreds of job postings from over 100 colleges throughout England and Wales.
Sue Dutton, Deputy Chief Executive, Association of Colleges commented,
‘The feedback we have had from our members has been excellent. Given that most of our personnel officers are not familiar with using the Internet as a medium for recruitment, we are delighted. Our aim is to help colleges reduce the cost of recruitment, speed up the overall process and give them greater choice of candidate.’
The development of is a result of the combined expertise of college personnel officers and, the UK’s leading online education recruitment business. enables colleges to advertise their vacancies online, reaching a wider pool of candidates almost instantly and to receive candidate applications on and offline.
The costs of placing an online advert are considerably less than taking newspaper adverts.
“When we learnt that FEjobs was developed with the AoC and is supported by the major unions, we decided to try it. The website is easy-to-use, enables us to give the information about our college and its location and the candidates apply directly to us electronically on our own college forms. In a short space of time the response has been better than the traditional national press and I believe this will continue as the service establishes itself as the market leader. “
