Message from the Headteacher

At Millfield L.E.A.D. Academy we offer an exciting curriculum that is designed to ensure that every child develops the ambition to achieve and excel in English and Numeracy and to develop their unique talents.

The learning environment has been transformed over the last few years and is engaging and stimulating. The children are rightly proud of their school and this is shown through their consistently good levels of behaviour in and outside of the classroom. Wherever we take the children we are complimented on their attitudes to learning and their behaviour. Through these high expectations of the school and themselves children make the right choices, work hard and have high aspirations for their future.

A rich and diverse range of learning opportunities within and outside the school ensures that children are excited about their learning. Every child has the opportunity to go on two residential visits during their time at Millfield which further enhances their independence.

At Millfield we strongly believe in collaborative work and partnership. Our 16 Day Books give parents the opportunity to really get involved in their child’s learning and are greatly valued by teachers, children and parents. This collaboration extends to workshops, drop in sessions and opportunities to share in children’s learning and achievements.

Children have lots of opportunities to participate in after school clubs and sporting events. We compete against school son a local, district and county level. We are very proud of the children’s approach to competitive sport, in a range of traditional and non-traditional sports and the characteristics this builds and develop.

Millfield continues to develop and grow and as such has been awarded a range of nationally recognised awards and quality marks. These are for a range of curriculum subjects and areas. The Routes to Resilience award is for recognising and developing a range of characteristics which we develop in children to help them in their learning now but also to help the throughout their life.

Millfield is a fantastic place for children to learn and if you require any further information, which you cannot find on our website, please contact the school office who will be happy to help you.

L.E.A.D. Academy Trust

The creation of the L.E.A.D. Academy Trust was a natural progression of our belief in a partnership ethos and our determination to ensure that more young people receive an exceptional education.

We passionately believe in the power of partnership working as a catalyst for better educational outcomes for children and systemic change.

This is why our model allows member schools the autonomy to lead and manage in a way that preserves their individual identity and responds to specific community needs, while unifying them through:

  • Shared vision and values;
  • Partnership working in key areas such as leadership, professional development and sharing best ideas and practice;
  • Improved succession and career planning;
  • A relentless focus on an exceptional quality of teaching and learning.
  • A strong focus on leadership permeates our model. Everyone can benefit from the development of leadership skills.
