Our school is a thriving, successful mixed comprehensive of some 1800 pupils based on a large campus. There is a sixth form of some 290 pupils. The school is located in the small town of Ammanford at the foot of the Black Mountains. Pupils attending the school come from a large catchment area which is a mixture of the rural and industrial. The school reflects and enhances the bilingual nature of the area.

The school has excellent sports facilities, including a sports hall, a swimming pool, a new astroturf for Hockey and Football, together with new Tennis courts. There is also a fine tradition of sporting achievements and other extra-curricular activities in the school. Many boys and girls represent their county and country in a number of fields. New members of staff will be joining a highly committed and caring staff.

School Aims

1928-Block-Resized-1024x364.jpg
  • To provide a pleasant school community for pupils and staff in which they can enjoy working together.
  • To nurture and develop the intellectual, social and physical potential of each child to the fullest extent.
  • To encourage lively, independent and enquiring minds, providing an equal opportunity for all – regardless of gender, race, age and ability – to gain qualifications, knowledge and skills relevant to their future needs, and to ensure a base sufficient to facilitate progression into employment, further education, training or other roles.
  • To develop understanding of and respect and tolerance for religious and moral values in our society and in differing societies.
  • To enhance a knowledge of and empathy for our own particular cultural inheritance and language in a thoroughly bilingual environment, giving all an opportunity to study Welsh as well as English, and using both languages extensively as a medium of instruction.
