Overview

Ethos and values of the school We are proud of the warm spirit displayed by the school, we have happy and enthusiastic pupils supported by kind and caring staff. This is a special place to work and study. The school possesses a clear ethos and dependable values that have been the foundation of our success over numerous years.
We are a friendly and civilised community that cares for the needs of all pupils, a community where the welfare and attainment of every pupil is regarded as important and where staff work positively to ensure the emotional and academic success of every pupil. Staff ensure that we nurture both respect and responsibility within our pupils and we provide a huge amount of support in order that all pupils achieve their best.
The concepts of care for others and respect for individuals are values that we nurture and is central to all our thinking. Great importance is placed on developing bilingual skills and parents are encouraged to support bilingual education.
We encourage pupils to develop a pride for the language, culture, history and the heritage of Wales. In addition, we nurture the personal attributes associated with courtesy, honesty, perseverance, an understanding of conscience and the importance of caring. Providing equal opportunities for all whatever their ability, gender, age or linguistic ability are emphasised by all staff. Showing respect to others, respecting religious, spiritual, and moral values, whilst nurturing tolerance for different creeds and attitudes are all key values expressed by the school.
The school adheres to high standards of discipline and this is reflected in pupils attitudes and behaviour in lessons, around the campus and in the community. This is a community school, with the community making substantial use of school facilities and the school in its turn using the community as a source to enrich the pupils’ lives. The aim of the school is to do our very best to ensure that every pupil achieves his/her potential - academically, socially and in terms of their own personal development - as part of a civilised and bilingual community.
