Abbey Primary School is the latest new development of Neath Port Talbot Council’s Strategic School Improvement programme. It is a new state of the art high quality learning environment for children aged 3 to 11 years old and includes an Early Years Assessment Centre and a private Childcare setting. There are currently 416 pupils on roll.

The Governing Body, staff, and pupils seek to appoint an enthusiastic, experienced/newly qualified and committed class teacher who can support the educational vision of the school. The post is in a KS2 class in the first instance and is to cover a maternity leave.

The successful candidate will:

- be a high calibre, inspiring teacher

- be an excellent classroom practitioner with a deep understanding of how children learn successfully

- Have experience of working in Key Stage 2 and show an excellent knowledge and understanding of the curriculum

- Have high expectations of the children academically and socially

- Maintain excellent standards of behaviour

- Have a positive and enthusiastic attitude to all areas of school life

- Is able to work effectively as part of a team

- Possess excellent organisation and communication skills with staff, parents, and pupils.

- Demonstrate the communication skills necessary to take responsibility for areas of the curriculum/school initiatives

- Knowledge/experience of music and expressive arts
