We are looking to appoint an experienced, motivated and innovative teacher of Performing Arts to join our Creative Arts Faculty. This position is open to both experienced teaching staff looking for a new context or early careers teachers who are looking to make a positive impact in both Drama and Music. The ideal candidate must have a real passion for the performing arts and be equipped with the skills to maximise outcomes for students at both KS3 and KS4. Drama and Music is currently taught once a week at KS3. As a school we currently offer BTEC Performing Arts and GCSE Music at KS4 with each subject allocated five 1-hour lessons a fortnight. This new position will require the successful candidate to work and teach across both the Drama and Music departments and will play a pivotal role in fostering a creative and inclusive learning environment for our students.
The Drama department at Kingsway Park High School is well resourced with two dedicated studio classrooms equipped with stage lighting and sound. You will join a department with two existing experienced teachers of Drama and established external links with the community. The Music department consists of two experienced members of staff, two dedicated music studios alongside a large practice room and three small music studios for one-to-one peripatetic lessons. As teacher of performing arts, you will also work closely with the Faculty Leader of the Creative subjects in working collaboratively as a team to achieve our faculty objective: ‘To instil our students with the skills and knowledge to become creative learners and critical thinkers, which will empower them to succeed in the wider community. We want our students to identify that the creative arts are for everyone.’. The creative faculty consists of Art, Textiles, Photography, Music and Drama. One of the main aims of the faculty is to promote a love for the performing arts and building confidence in how our students approach performance in aid of maximising KS4 numbers and inspiring students to continue exploring the arts when they leave Kingsway Park. You will be supported by the curriculum leaders of both Drama and Music in aligning the school’s new mission statement- ‘We Cooperate, We Pioneer, We Belong’. Alongside teaching the classroom-based curriculum, we are also looking for a teacher who is passionate and experienced in supporting and taking an active role in whole school productions whilst working cooperatively to best showcase all the creative arts.
