Welcome to Ansford Academy, where education is about everyone achieving his or her best, while developing individual character and personality.
Our motto, learning together to lead our lives, reflects our passionate belief in equipping individuals with the skills to make a success of their lives - to secure useful and rewarding work, make and sustain good relationships and contribute positively to local and global communities.
In our fast-moving and challenging world, a strong portfolio of qualifications opens doors and increases opportunities but does not guarantee success. Our focus at Ansford Academy - for students, teachers, associate staff and families - is on learning how to be the best we can be.
We seek to achieve this through a constant desire for growth in three key areas:
Unlocking potential and securing futures
Laying the foundations for lifelong learning
Forming and maintaining quality relationships
We take seriously the responsibilities of working together as a community, striving for excellence in all we do and ensuring that all of us are valued for who we are and who we can become. Through high academic and personal expectations, we inspire our students to enjoy their time here and ensure that they leave fully prepared for the next phase of their lives.
The focus of everyone's lives at the Academy, the students and the teachers and associate staff, is on learning and achieving. We set high academic and personal expectations so that students can both enjoy their time here and move successfully to the next phase of their lives.
We know that young people achieve best when they are confident learners, known and supported as individuals. We put a high value on our rich curriculum and the challenge our teachers provide to help all students reach their potential. We value every student both for who they are and for who they may become.
Our students learn to live and work in a community based on good behaviour, trust and respect for diversity, so they can grow and discover for themselves how they want to lead their lives. We are proud of the initiative, endeavour and creativity of our students, not only for what they achieve for themselves, but what they do for others.
At Ansford we have a team of around 80 well-qualified and dedicated staff. Teaching staff are organised into 7 faculties, each one led by a Head of Faculty. These teams are ably supported by our Student Support and SEN team.
Alongside this we have a fantastic associate staff team who make sure that the academy runs smoothly and provides the best possible service to its community. As a member of staff you will be expected to hold your own professional learning in high regard. We will provide you with as many opportunities as you desire to enhance your professional skills and attributes through our high quality, personalised CPD programme.
We will also provide unique opportunities to participate in innovative developments in teaching and learning through our strong partnerships (Whole Education school visits, Kunskapsskolan teacher exchanges in Sweden, local cross phase development work, Somerset Challenge developments, real life learning with our local supplementary learning provider, Explorium). In return we hope you will want to share your learning with others so that we can all continue to improve.
Ansford Academy prides itself on being a moral employer. We work hard to ensure all of our staff have the opportunity to have their voice heard and to contribute to making Ansford the best place to work. We recently established a staff parliament where ideas can be discussed and concerns addressed through a solutions circle approach. This is an exciting time to join us on our journey to rural excellence.
