About

Arnesby C of E Primary School was originally two classrooms built in the mid to late 1800’s. many features of the Victorian era are still in existence – the original school bell is still used to mark the beginning of the school day. The ornate windows and Norman arch door help to create a real atmosphere of a traditional village school.

The Victorian school Teacher would have lived in the adjoining house, whose five rooms are now used for a variety of purposes, including a small classroom (The Snug), toilets for Early Years and offices.

Adjacent to the school stands the Village Hall which we use for a various activities – our daily assembly, school dinners, indoor PE, large scale art and our very popular assembly to parents – the Gold Book Assembly.

Our Sports Field is located next to the windmill and is a joint venture with the parish Council and Village Hall Committee – this exemplifies our strong links with the local community. Many outdoor sports – football, cricket, athletics, tag rugby, sports day – are held here.

The school’s catchment area is Arnesby, Shearsby and the hamlet of Knaptoft. 28% of children and families reside here. However 72% of children travel to our school from outlying villages and Leicestershire conurbations.

Aims, Ethos and Values

We believe we should educate our pupils in partnership with the Church, our families and the community we serve. We believe children are entitled to enjoy their times at school. Each child is unique and when we are planning and imparting learning, we are recognising and celebrating diversity and as a leader, challenging prejudices.

We as key adults, are ensuring Arnesby pupils are learning about their own cultures and beliefs and those of other people. We believe in encouraging our children to be independent and self-motivated learners who are ready to embrace the 21st Century. Every child is given rich opportunities which allow them to develop to their full potential in all aspects of life.
