Overview

Ashton Vale Primary School is a one form entry school in South Bristol. We are very close to the border of North Somerset with a green outlook which gives Ashton Vale a village feel with close access to all the benefits of a creative city. Ashton Vale is part of The South West Bristol Co-operative Learning Trust which gives many opportunities to both our pupils and staff.

Ashton Vale has many strengths which include being a flagship school for the Food for Life Trust, having a wide range of sporting and musical successes and a recent good Ofsted report. Parents and governors are positive about our aims and are supportive of our broad curriculum. The children are very involved in school life and take a proactive part in decision making. Staff at Ashton Vale are very supportive and we enjoy a sense of humour whilst caring for our pupils and the community.

Aims and Ethos

Our aim is to provide an inspiring education that will help all children to develop a love of learning and to achieve excellence. Through their curiosity and as a result of high quality teaching, the children gain the knowledge and skills that they need to understand the world around them as scientists, historians, artists, musicians, geographers and mathematicians.

Excalibur Academies Trust

Founded in 2012, Excalibur Academies Trust has grown from two schools in Marlborough, Wiltshire, to 20 schools reaching from Bristol to Reading along the M4 corridor, providing high quality education to 10,000 children from age 2 to age 18. Our vision is to provide an all-through education in local hubs, with a focus on the best teaching, a broad and exciting curriculum and an outward-facing global perspective. We believe in investing in our staff to ensure we attract and retain talented, dedicated people who are committed to changing children’s lives for the better. With a strong track record of raising the achievement of disadvantaged pupils across the trust, it is our mission to promote social mobility and personal fulfilment through the transformative power of education. Our growth strategy is based on our hub model and building the capacity to provide strong support and opportunities to other schools who share our vision.
