Instructor Keeper – Animal Management

Full Time, Permanent post (37 hours per week)

Saltaire Campus

Salary: £17,274 to £18,213 per annum, dependent on experience (SP10- 12)

Askham Bryan College is a specialist land-based college with campuses across the North of England.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Instructor Keeper to join our Animal Management Department here at our Saltaire campus. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who is capable of working with others and is responsible, passionate and knowledgeable about the overall animal management sector and has an enthusiastic approach to animal husbandry and welfare.

The post will require you to work with a range of species at the centre and deliver practical modules to Level 2 and 3 learners including assessments. The ideal candidate will have some teaching experience and a good sound understanding of animal welfare needs.

Reporting to the Head of Department, responsibilities include the day to day care and management of the animal unit, general cleaning, feeding, maintenance and record keeping of the animal species, teaching practical lessons for level 2 and 3 learners and assessing these learners accordingly.

Applicants should be educated to at least a level 3 in an animal related subject, and a degree in an animal related subject would be advantageous.
