Cover Course Manager/Lecturer - Sport and Public Services

York Campus

Part Time Variable Hours, Term Time Only

Askham Bryan College is a specialist land-based college based across the North of England.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced lecturer to join our Sport and Public Services Department here at our York campus. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who is capable of working with others and is responsible, passionate and knowledgeable about the uniformed public services sector and has an enthusiastic approach to teaching.

This role will be working to provide cover as needed.

The successful candidate will report to the Head of Department, will teach across Sport and Public Services subject areas. Responsibilities may also include supporting the day to day administration and tracking of the students within your groups, providing academic support and study skills as necessary and teaching across a variety of modules in the department.

It is expected that candidates will have excellent knowledge of the public services sector, experience of working in a uniformed public service, be educated to degree level or above in a relevant subject and should hold or be willing to work towards a teaching qualification. Teaching experience, and assessor/verifier awards would be highly advantageous.

It is our vision for this new member of the team to enhance our current delivery and contribute towards developing a curriculum that meet the needs of our local employers. Above all, the successful candidate will be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines whilst having a student centred and enthusiastic approach.

Successful applicants will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check.
