Progress Tutor

York Campus

18.5 hours per week (Foundation Learning)

Term Time – 42 weeks per year

£21,740 - £23,606 per annum, pro rata, plus monthly holiday pay allowance

Askham Bryan College is a specialist land-based college based across the North of England with centres in York, Middlesbrough, Saltaire, Wakefield and Newcastle.

We are looking to recruit a brand new team of Progress Tutors to work within the curriculum and with a cohort of around 140-160 to deliver our tutorial framework group sessions (Progression and Development sessions) on topics such as Employability, Prevent and British Values, mental health and wellbeing among many others. The tutors will also be responsible for supporting the students pastorally and monitoring their progress and attendance in one to one tutorial sessions.

Working closely with curriculum, Student Services Team, Quality Team and Work Placement Teams, you will be responsible for ensuring each student has the life skills and knowledge they need to be employable, work ready and equipped with the skills to keep themselves safe when they leave our College.

To be successful in this role, you should be enthusiastic and passionate about students achieving their potential and in working supportively to remove any barriers they may face along the way. You will be a team player but be able to adapt to working independently when necessary. We welcome applicants who can bring new ideas and help to mould the role of the Progress Tutor into a successful and valuable part of the Student Services Team, as well as being fully embedded into the curriculum teams.

Askham Bryan College works hard to maintain and promote equality and diversity and ensure inclusion for all students who choose to attend here. The Progress Tutor Team Leader will have these principles at the heart of everything they do and be motivated to further improve the services we offer to take these principles forward by delivering high quality content.

We offer a dynamic, challenging and rewarding place to work. Our employees enjoy a range of generous benefits including generous annual leave allocation, local government pensions scheme, free parking as well as the opportunity to work within spectacular grounds.

Successful applicants will require an enhanced DBS check.

Please see the person specification and job description for further details.

Closing Date: 9.00am Monday 13th June 2022
