Full time, Permanent Contract – York Campus

Hours: 37hrs/week

Salary: £31,478 - £38,68 (SCP 30-37)

Askham Bryan College is a specialist land-based college based across the North of England with centres in York, Middlesbrough, Saltaire, Wakefield and Newcastle.

We offer a wide-ranging curriculum to our Further Education students, including Arboriculture, Horticulture, Agriculture, Animal Management, Countryside and the Environment, Engineering, Equine, Floristry, Motorsport, Professional Tree Surgery, Outdoor Adventure Sport, Sports Development, Coaching and Fitness and Uniformed Public Services and Veterinary Nursing.

University Centre Askham Bryan (UCAB) has Foundation Degree awarding powers, and offers both FdSc and BSc provision in disciplines in Agriculture, Animal science and Conservation, Animal Behaviour and Management, Equine and Veterinary Nursing. Honours degrees are validated by Harper Adams University.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Curriculum Team Leader for Higher Education (UCAB). This role offers the opportunity for an experienced and motivated individual to support in the delivery and management of Higher Education at Askham Bryan College. This is a full-time permanent role, joining a team of CTLs who are pivotal in supporting the College to success in delivering the College’s strategic objectives, and working with a team of HE delivery staff who are driving an innovative and excellent student experience.

We are seeking an individual who will be responsible for delivery and development of Higher Education in land-based. Sector experience and knowledge is vital, clear experience in working effectively with people and specifically an understanding of the provision of HE in FE.

The successful candidate will provide support to College leadership, operation delivery and direction to the planning and resourcing of a high quality, efficient curriculum offer based at our York Campus.

Educated to MSc level or above in a relevant subject, candidates should hold a teaching qualification. With excellent knowledge of the delivery of education to higher education students, and demonstrable skills in stakeholder engagement and partnership working. You will need to be able to delivery higher education within a land-based discipline offered by UCAB.

Askham Bryan College has a state-of-the-art Digital Skill Academy in which we focus on digital teaching, digital learning, digital assessment and digital upskilling. Using the tools and approaches set out in the colleges digital learning landscape. Which include the first in Europe, multi-user collaborative virtual reality suite which is at the heart of the building. Enabling students to experience immersive learning experiences in both ‘real world’ virtual reality and ‘animated’ virtual reality. These experiences are either created by the tutor or by empowering students to create their own environments for cutting edge assessment practices. Ever wanted to take your students inside an animal cell? Or make maths jump off the page? In virtual reality you can achieve just that!

Teaching here is moving away from traditional methods and using technology to support all aspects of practice in a broad and balanced way from teaching and learning, progress tracking, subject specialist equipment and learning resources.
