We have the only Sixth Form in the Weymouth and Portland area, meaning that we have the privilege of taking children from aged 11 right through to 18, and our excellent provision ensures that they are ready for the adult world. We also offer fantastic career progression for our staff and offer training to enable our employees to grow and support them on that journey.
We are seeking to appoint an innovative Teaching Assistant to support students in our specialist provision ASC BASE and with their learning needs across the school. You will be skilled at engaging and motivating students who find learning and communicating a challenge, in the classroom as well as during intervention groups.
Our ASC Base is a provision which supports 12 students, who are fully integrated into our mainstream school alongside their peers. These students are offered additional resources, intervention and at times different spaces to work as needed, in order to help them to succeed in our school.
As an ASC Base Teaching Assistant, you will be supporting pupils with special educational needs, specifically autism and associated difficulties including Complex Communication Needs. Aiding the Teacher to deliver the curriculum, you will help children and young people to understand and access activities and overcome challenging behaviour, both in the main classroom as well as in the Base as necessary, delivering intervention.
We are looking for someone who:
• Has extensive SEN experience
• Has experience with non-verbal students
• Is knowledgeable and has experience in how to support children who demonstrate some challenging behaviour and who have complex needs including communication needs
• Is confident to work with specific sensory difficulties

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and dedicated, with a passion for working with pupils who require additional support with their education.
Budmouth Academy Weymouth is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to have an Enhanced DBS check in line with the government’s safer recruitment guidelines.
