Jewell Academy Bournemouth opened in September 2013 as a brand-new school, serving the Townsend area of Bournemouth and operating as part of the growing Aspirations Academies Trust. We grew from a two-year school in 2013 to a full school by 2019 and have a full preschool on site. We have a wonderful close-knit team here at Jewell and we support our staff with their career progression by offering innovative and targeted Continuous Professional Development (CPD) opportunities so they can get where they want to be.

Are you passionate about working with children and have the ability to inspire learning and support development? If so, then we would really like to meet you!

We are looking to appoint a highly motivated Learning Support Assistant to join our supportive team. You should be a positive and enthusiastic person who loves working with children and helping them to strive for their best.

You should have a high standard of general education with good numeracy and literacy skills. You will be able to communicate effectively with children and adults, have a flexible attitude, good sense of humour and be friendly and approachable. Experience of working with children, good time management and the ability to work flexibly using your own initiative are essential. All applications will be considered and while SEN experience would be an advantage, it is not essential as relevant training will be given to the right candidate.

The main focus of the Learning Support Assistant role may include: -

● Supporting children in achieving the lesson objective in English, Maths and across all areas of the curriculum

● Leading 1:1 and group intervention programmes

● Feeding back to the class teacher, maintaining records of progress

● Working with children to support any SEND, social, emotional, behavioural, personal care or medical needs

● Liasing with parents and external professionals

Children will be at the heart of your work. You must be able to demonstrate that you understand the importance of educating the whole child, that you want the very best for them and are prepared to put their needs first.

Visits to our academy are welcomed and encouraged and we look forward to meeting you (COVID secure processes are in place). Further details can be requested from the school office and we will be happy to speak with you via telephone or Google Hangouts.

For more detailed information about the role, please find attached the job description.
