About The Role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Communications Assistant to join our Specialist Resource Provision (SRP) team, supporting pupils with Speech, Language and Communication Needs and/or Autism.

Working under the guidance of the SRP Lead Teacher, you will deliver tailored learning programmes, assist in setting and reviewing Individual Learning Plans (ILPs), and help pupils access the curriculum as outlined in their EHCPs. The role includes supporting personal care needs, encouraging independence, and fostering social interaction and engagement across SRP and mainstream settings. You’ll also help prepare learning environments, liaise with parents and professionals, and contribute to safeguarding and school policies.

The successful candidate will help create a positive, structured learning environment, encourage pupil development, and ensure every child feels supported, included, and safe. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people.

A commitment to inclusion, pupil wellbeing, and continuous professional development is essential. If you're passionate about education, inclusion, and supporting children with additional needs, we’d love to hear from you.

Please note that we may close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications for the role. Therefore, if you are interested, we'd encourage you to submit your application as early as possible.

School visits are welcomed and encouraged. Please contact the school to arrange a suitable time.

What will you do?

  • Assist pupils with Speech, Language and Communication Needs and/or Autism, providing personal care, promoting independence, and supporting emotional, social, and academic development in line with their EHCPs and ILPs.
  •  Work with the Lead Teacher to plan and deliver tailored learning programmes, support access to the curriculum (including Literacy, Numeracy, and ICT), and help prepare and maintain learning environments and resources.
  • Facilitate pupil inclusion by encouraging participation, cooperation, and engagement in both SRP and mainstream settings where appropriate.
  • Promote and ensure the safety, wellbeing, and positive behaviour of all pupils, following school policies on safeguarding, health and safety, and pastoral care.
