We are looking to appoint a forward thinking Class Supervisor from 1 September 2021. Our Class Supervisors supervise whole classes (up to 32 students), across year groups and curriculum areas, during the short term absences of teachers, using work set by the Head of Department.

You will need to be able to assist students with their work, respond to questions and uphold the schools expectations for behaviour and learning. You will be enthusiastic, approachable and committed.

In addition to covering classes the role also includes supervising students during social time (breaks and lunch), providing support and invigilation during the examination season and administrative and in-class support there when not needed for classroom cover.

The successful candidate will have experience working with young people aged 11 – 16 years and adults. You will have high standard of communications skills, and are able to work under your own initiative. Having a broad knowledge of safeguarding and confidentiality issues is a key requirement in this role.

Backwell School is a part of the Lighthouse Schools Partnership Multi-Academy Trust. In 2020, Ofsted judged both the School and the Sixth Form to be ‘Good’. At present, there are 1407 students in Years 7 to 11 and 310 in the Sixth Form.
