Position: Head of Boarding & Sixth Form Housemistress

Location: On site, Westbury-on-Trym BS9 3BA

Hours: This is a full-time permanent position

Start date: 24 August 2026

We are looking for a dynamic and highly organised Head of Boarding to lead boarding at Badminton.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the regulatory environment which applies to boarding schools, including safeguarding matters. They will also have an appreciation of the competitive nature of girls’ single-sex boarding in the UK and will be keen to grasp the challenges this presents. The postholder will combine this with the role of Sixth Form Housemistress.


Main responsibilities include:

• To ensure that boarding at Badminton is a vibrant, enriching and safe experience;

• To lead on boarding initiatives;

• Alongside the Deputy Head (Pastoral) ensure the school’s compliance with the regulatory requirements of the National Minimum Standards and contribute to the preparation for inspections; including the NMS Self Evaluation, Evidence File and key boarding policies;

• Ensure that staffing arrangements and procedures within the boarding houses are in line with all regulatory requirements;


To be considered for this position, we are looking for the following:

• Degree or equivalent qualification

• Previous experience or working in boarding and leading a team

• Good knowledge of National Minimum Standards for Boarding

• Ability to motivate individuals and teams to work effectively

• Highly developed interpersonal skills including influencing skills

• Ability to work in a way that promotes the safety and wellbeing of children and young people

• Highly organised with excellent administrative and record-keeping skills

• Ideally, you will also have Qualified Teacher Status and hold a BSA Boarding qualification
