Position: Visiting Teacher of EAL

Location: On site, Westbury-on-Trym BS9 3BA

Hours: This is a part-time position working approximately 2-3 days a week, these days can be flexible

Start date: 1st October 2025

Closing date: Monday 1st September 2025

Interviews: Week commencing 8th September

We are currently looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Visiting Teacher of EAL to support the department.


Main Responsibilities:

• Teach Curriculum Support lessons during the school terms to pupils allocated by the school. - Lessons will normally be on a one-to-one basis but will occasionally include small groups. The school cannot guarantee the number of pupils allocated in any term.

• Provide lessons normally of 35-minute duration and each pupil will normally expect to have one lesson a week during School terms.

• Plan, prepare and deliver Curriculum Support lessons for individuals and small groups, and record student progress. Students will normally have one 40-minute lesson per week.

• Keep a detailed attendance record, lesson by lesson. This will form the basis of the charges to parents and payment to the Visiting Teacher of EAL

• Provide literacy support, study skills and exam preparation necessary to assist with Higher Education applications and all external exams.

• Research and adapt resources and design and develop teaching materials suitable for each girl’s age and ability.

• Attend parents’ meetings where appropriate and be available for consultation at other reasonable times by appointment (including telephone or TEAMs as required)

• Assist with writing Learner Profiles (LPs) and contribute to care plans as necessary.

• Keep abreast of developments and teaching methods in order to maintain a high level of professional competence.


To be considered for this position, you should:

• Have an EAL and/or SPLD level 5 Qualification

• Ideally have teaching experience in the role applied for

• All applicants should have experience of working with young people and have knowledge of how to enthuse students with EAL
