An exciting opportunity to work in a state of the art educational and community provision. The Governors at Ysgol Bae Baglan are seeking to appoint a Permanent Admin and Organisation Level 4 – Finance Manager, 32.5 hours per week, 40 weeks per year. The successful applicant will work as part of a large Admin Team, led and supported by the Strategic Business Leader. The post holder will be required to have a good level of finance management, be hardworking, and eager to develop and grow within the position.

Main tasks and responsibilities linked to the job description

• Support the Strategic Business Leader in ensuring the smooth, compliant and efficient operation of the school’s finance function, in line with legal and financial regulations and Local Authority policies and procedures.

• Provide secure and effective management of the school’s financial systems, maintaining the integrity of the accounting platform FIS – Oracle and Pebble by overseeing day to day financial processes and ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded in a timely manner.

• Monitor and review all budget headings, promptly reporting significant variances to the School Business Manager and producing clear, accurate monthly financial reports.

• Ensure the school achieves best value for money across all procurement activity by securing goods and services of the right quantity, quality, timing and cost.

• Oversee and support processes relating to orders, invoices, payments, reconciliations and financial returns.

• Assist with the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and year end accounts in collaboration with the Strategic Business Leader.

• Support internal and external audit processes by ensuring financial records are complete, compliant and readily accessible.

• Maintain strong financial controls, including monitoring income streams, and ensuring robust procedures for banking and cash handling.

• Contribute to the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures to promote efficiency, consistency and compliance across the school.

• Provide guidance and support to staff on financial processes, ensuring clarity and adherence to school policies.

• Assist with administrative duties where required, contributing to the smooth running of the wider admin team.
