Ysgol Bae Baglan is seeking to appoint an inspirational, dynamic and suitably experienced senior leader to join its Senior Leadership Team from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in an all through 3–16 school that has served its community since opening to pupils in September 2016.

Ysgol Bae Baglan benefits from outstanding 21st century facilities that support innovative, forward thinking approaches to teaching and learning. These facilities enable pupils to develop the skills, confidence and resilience needed to play an active and successful role in society. Our wider provision ensures that all learners are fully included in curricular and extra curricular opportunities and are given the support they need to reach their full potential.

In our most recent inspection report, Ysgol Bae Baglan was recognised as a supportive and inclusive learning community, where positive relationships underpin pupils’ wellbeing and progress. Inclusion is central to our ethos. The school has a significant number of pupils with Additional Learning Needs, including a 120 place specialist resource base, and the successful candidate will demonstrate strong knowledge, experience and commitment in leading inclusive practice across the school. Working collaboratively with families and the wider community is therefore a vital part of this role.

We are looking to appoint a dynamic, resilient and values driven leader with a proven track record of successful leadership. The appointed Deputy Headteacher will be able to work effectively with a large, multidisciplinary team and will share our commitment to inclusion, wellbeing, safeguarding and community engagement.

The role carries responsibility for strategic leadership of inclusion, wellbeing and safeguarding, and offers an exceptional opportunity to make a lasting difference to pupils, staff and the wider school community.

Neath Port Talbot Council is totally committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Our schools are equally committed to ensuring the safety and protection of all children and young people and will act to safeguard their wellbeing.

The recruitment process for this post will be underpinned by rigorous safer recruitment assessment to ensure that children and young people are protected.

This post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service Enhanced Disclosure (Child).
