Apprenticeships
Salary: £32,532 to 36,614 per annum
Contract Type: Permanent Full time 37 hours per week
Reference: REC1675 | Closing date: Monday 27th January 2025
The opportunity
As our Engineering Maintenance Technician, you’ll play a key role in equipping our apprentices with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to succeed in the workplace. This hands-on role allows you to share your industry expertise and develop the next generation of engineering talent.
You’ll deliver a mix of practical training and classroom lessons, covering topics such as mechanical and electrical systems, fault diagnosis, planned maintenance, and health and safety. By tailoring your teaching to employer needs, you’ll ensure apprentices are fully prepared for their roles.
Based in our state-of-the-art STEM Centre, you’ll guide apprentices in using tools and equipment safely while solving real-world engineering challenges. Your classroom lessons will make theoretical concepts like engineering principles, diagnostics, and industry standards clear and engaging.
You’ll also teach systems for safe maintenance and operations, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and industry standards. By supporting apprentices in maintaining equipment and identifying and repairing faults, you’ll promote high standards of safety and operational effectiveness.
As a mentor, you’ll track apprentice progress, address areas for improvement, and support them in achieving their goals. Collaboration will be key, as you’ll work with colleagues to share best practices, develop course materials, and maintain high teaching standards.
Focusing on apprenticeship standards tailored to employer needs, you’ll deliver training in the STEM Centre and on workplace visits, helping apprentices develop practical skills in real-world settings. Functional skills training is handled by a separate team, allowing you to concentrate on core engineering content.
If you’re new to teaching, we’ll provide full support to help you gain the necessary qualifications. This is a fantastic opportunity to share your expertise, inspire future engineers, and make a meaningful contribution to the industry.
