Variable Hours

This role is offered on a Variable Hours contract for services, giving you the flexibility to choose whether to accept work offered to you. We’ll provide an approximate number of hours you may be asked to work, however there is no obligation for work to be offered, and there’s no obligation for you to accept the work offered.

The Opportunity

As our Achievement Mentor, you will work closely with small groups of our Childcare & Health students, supporting and guiding them to make meaningful progress in their Vocational and Academic qualifications. You will use a range of learning strategies, assessments, and interventions to help our students overcome challenges and reach their individual potential. Your role will also involve supporting our students with English and Maths, helping them to develop the skills they need to succeed in their studies.

You will also collaborate with curriculum teams to design and deliver tailored support, ensuring that interventions are effective and informed by each student’s needs. You will play an important part in monitoring progress, recording outcomes, and reporting on attendance and achievement, helping to create a clear picture of student development.

You will also be responsible for planning and delivering small group sessions, using appropriate teaching and learning resources, including online technologies. You will foster positive relationships with learners, motivating them to engage with their programmes and achieve their goals, while contributing to a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

About You

You are passionate about supporting our students and enjoy helping them overcome challenges, improve their skills, and achieve their goals. You understand the importance of both academic and personal development and take pride in making a real difference in learners’ lives.

You have strong knowledge of English and Maths and can confidently support our students in these core subjects. Whether through mentoring, tutoring, or practical strategies, you help students develop the skills they need to succeed.

You have experience in education or mentoring, working with students in schools, colleges, or training settings. You are confident delivering small group or one-to-one sessions and can use a range of teaching and learning strategies to engage learners effectively.

You are collaborative and flexible, working well as part of a team and communicating effectively with curriculum staff. You can adapt your approach to meet the needs of individual learners and are comfortable with the flexibility offered by a Variable Hours contract.

You are organised and able to plan and deliver sessions, track progress, record outcomes, and report on student achievement and attendance. You foster a positive and encouraging learning environment, building strong relationships with learners and motivating them to engage fully with their programmes.

Required

• GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent Level 2 qualification)

• Experience in supporting students to succeed
